Rocco DiSpirito

Rocco DiSpirito, one of the celebrity chefs, is a popular name in the Italian American cuisine. One of the prominent American chefs, Rocco DiSpirito, has earned worldwide popularity for his outstanding recipes and as author of several interesting cookbooks.

Rocco DiSpirito was born on 19th November 1966, in Jamaica, situated in the vicinity of Queens in New York City. He completed his graduation from Culinary Institute of America, located in Hyde Park, New York in the year 1986. In 1990 he became a graduate with a degree in business from Boston University. Rocco DiSpirito's interest in culinary art was perhaps due to his mother Nicoline who was also an expert chef.

DiSpirito started his own restaurant Union Pacific in the year 1997 in the Gramercy Park of Manhattan. The restaurant served delicious cuisines and was highly praised by the culinary critics. The restaurant brought him name as well as fame. In 2004 Rocco DiSpirito decided to leave the restaurant. DiSpirito in the following years opened another restaurant in Rocco's 22nd Street in close collaboration with the financier Jeffrey Chodorow. However there was some difference of opinion, which lead Chodorow to close the restaurant and reopen it as Cavier and Banana.

Rocco DiSpirito became a popular face following his appearance in The Restaurant, a NBC television reality show. The chef hosted his own radio talk show from October 2004 till December 2005 on WOR, a New York based AM radio station. He was requested to host a popular mid afternoon television show in the year 2006, was once hosted by Bob Grant, a famous radio personality in America.. Following some difference with the management regarding the creative aspects of the show, Rocco DiSpirito decided to quit the show. His official website launched in 2007, claimed that DiSpirito intends to develop a new television show.

Rocco DiSpirito was a part of Lincoln, the famous American brand's commercial. He was also a part of a short comedy series, The Knights of Prosperity shown on the American Broadcasting Company. He also appeared as a guest judge in Top Chef, a popular American reality show. In third season of the show, he appeared as one of the three celebrity chefs appointed for the contestants. Rocco DiSpirito was the chef of Hung Huynh, one of the contestants. On 5th February, 2008, DiSpirito appeared on The Biggest Loser Couples show, season 5. The chef was the chief judge who declared the winning team after tasting the healthy recipes of his own prepared by the contestants.

Rocco DiSpirito is also the author of some bestselling cookbooks where he shared some of his secret and innovative recipe with others. The most prominent of them being:
