Sanjeev Kapoor joined the hospitality industry in the year 1984, after securing a diploma in Hotel Management from the renowned Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition in New Delhi. He began his career in ITDC with a promising kitchen management scheme. Sanjeev Kapoor was a rank holder in his batch. He worked in some of the well known hotels before joining as the executive chef in Centaur Hotel in Mumbai.
Sanjeev Kapoor became a popular face with his cookery show Khana Khazana. The cookery show, which started in the 1990s is still one of the most successful television shows in India. The show has been designated as the best cookery show so far hosted in Indian television channels and has own several awards including Indian Television Academy-Best Cookery Show and Indian Telly Awards.

Sanjeev Kapoor has won several awards for his contribution in Indian culinary. H & FS designated him as the Best Executive Chef Award. Hi was also the winner of Mercury Gold Award at Geneva organized by IFCA. He has been an active member of International Culinary Panel of Singapore Airlines. The later also helped him to prepare Shahi Thali in the year 2006. Sanjeev Kapoor was also nominated by Indian Culinary Association Best Chef Award for introduction of Buxus obtusifolia in Indian cuisines.
