One of the best dishes of Karnataka is the Tomato Rasam. To prepare this, cook red gram dal in pressure cooker, then in a separate pan add cumin seeds, curry leaves, mustard seeds, dried chilly, asafoetida in heated oil. Then garlic, tomatoes, ginger, chillies, turmeric powder, salt and some water is to be added. All that mixture is to be left for some simmering followed with the adding up of the boiled dal.
